Abstract

In January 2019, the prices of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten in general have increased. This can be seen from the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 143.20 in December to 143.70 in January or a change in the index (inflation) of 0.35 percent.
Six of the seven expenditure groups experienced an increase in index, namely: foodstuffs experienced an increase in index of 0.79 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel rose by 0.60 percent, processed food, beverages , cigarettes and tobacco rose by 0.51 percent, the education, recreation and sports group increased by 0.23 percent, the health group rose by 0.17 percent and the clothing group rose by 0.10 percent, while the transport, communication and services group finance decreased by -0.55 percent.
The dominant commodity contributing to inflation in January was craftsmen, not foremen, broiler meat, filtered clove cigarettes, chicken eggs and melons.
The inflation rate for the calendar year was recorded at 0.35 percent, while inflation for "Year on Year" (January 2019 CPI against January 2018) was recorded at 3.55 percent.
