Abstract

In March 2019, the price of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten in general has increased. This can be seen from the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 143.70 in February to 143.81 in March or a change in the index (inflation) of 0.08 percent.

The five existing expenditure groups experienced an increase in index, which were respectively: the transportation, communication and financial services group rose by 0.57 percent, the processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco group rose by 0.38 percent, the health group rose by 0, 22 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose by 0.06 percent, the clothing group increased by 0.04 percent, while the education, recreation and sports group experienced a decrease of -0.11 percent and the foodstuffs group experienced the index decline was -0.57 percent.

The dominant commodity contributing to inflation in March is air transportation, shallots, raw tofu, garlic, bottled water and spinach.

The inflation rate for the calendar year was recorded at 0.43 percent, while "Year on Year" inflation (March 2019 CPI against March 2018) was recorded at 2.97 percent.
