Abstract

In April 2019, the prices of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten in general have increased. This can be seen from the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 143.81 in March to 144.48 in April or a change in the index (inflation) of 0.46 percent.

Six of the seven existing expenditure groups experienced an increase in the index, namely: the foodstuffs group experienced an increase in index of 1.84 percent, the health group rose by 0.17 percent, the transportation, communication and financial services group rose by 0.14 percent , the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose by 0.12 percent, the clothing group rose by 0.04 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose by 0.02 percent while the education, recreation and sports group decreased by -0.03 percent.

Commodities which predominantly contributed to inflation in April were shallots, garlic, chicken eggs, red chillies, air freight and bloating.

The inflation rate for the calendar year was recorded at 0.89 percent, while "Year on Year" inflation (April 2019 CPI against April 2018) was recorded at 3.14 percent.
